Frozen is a 2013 Disney animated family film. Disney likes classic fairy tails and this one was loosely based on Hans Christian Anderson's "The Snow Queen' (makes me want to go get it and read it, that's one I never knew of). It is the 53rd animated feature in the Walt Disney animated classic series. Featuring the voices of Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel (her singing is always awe inspiring but her solo in this is the best I've heard her do.). Male voices by Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad. The film tells the story of a fearless, yet optimistic princess who sets off on an epic journey alongside a rugged mountain man, his loyal reindeer, and a hapless snowman to find her sister, the Snow Queen, whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom in eternal winter.
Film was exceptionally good with great 3D. You can't go wrong with 3D snow, it looks like it's all over the theater. The story line is interesting and it's great timing for the Holidays and Thanksgiving where family is the important centerpiece. It's not the tried and true love of the Prince that saves the day. But it was a sisterly act of pure love that saved both sisters from their terrible fates. Disney's been playing recently with the Princess roles. In one movie the Princess kisses a frog and turns into a frog instead of the other way. "Tangled" had Rapunzel save the day with her long hair. And "Frozen" empowers the female with a act of sisterly pure love to save the Kingdom.
The kids loved it. My daughter gives everything she likes 5 stars and this is no exception. However, we'll go one further and say, "Frozen" she's seen 3 times already and is planning on going again. And it's just released. (that speaks volumes.)
